Weekly Bulletin: 7th March 2016

Dear Parents and Carers,

If you haven’t yet bought tickets for our inaugural Lymm High School Sportsmans’ Dinner, please do so as soon as possible. It is at the Park Royal Hotel, Stretton on the 20th April and Nigel Owens and Lee Sharpe will be the guest speakers. It will be a fabulous event. Tickets are £65 per person and tables of 10 can be purchased for £650. Sponsorship packages are also available. Please contact Tina McGuffie on 755458 or tmcguffie@lymmhigh.org.uk. Despite the title of the event, women are very much welcome! Friends, family members and business associates are also very much invited.

We were pleased to welcome lots of Year 5 pupils to Lymm High School to take part in the first week of our KS2 Gifted & Talented sessions last week. There are numerous fun activities ahead in many curriculum areas, including a hotly-contested Bake Off competition, clock making in Technology, a treasure hunt in French, German for beginners, a Franz Ferdinand murder mystery in History and learning all about sequencing in ICT. We are looking forward to more events in the coming weeks and are glad that the students had such a good time.

On Friday this week, we have the Afritwin ‘Auction of Promises’ Evening from 7-10.30pm in the school hall. The evening will not only include the auction – there will be games and challenges, as well as a buffet and a bar. Tickets for the evening are available from the school shop and cost £5 each. This really is a night not to be missed! All proceeds raised will be used to support our work in South Africa – you can find out more about the Afritwin project by clicking here. There is also an online auction for the larger lots including some fantastic donations such as signed sports memorabilia, holiday vouchers, theatre tickets, rounds of golf as well as 7 nights accommodation in Crete. You can view the online auction by clicking here.

Our latest school production will be ‘It Snows’ by Bryony Lavery, Steven Hoggett and Scott Graham, as part of the National Theatre’s Connections festival 2016. Students have been working extremely hard and have been rehearsing non-stop for the 3 performances here at Lymm. The production will take place on Tuesday 22nd, Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th March at 7pm in the Main Hall. Tickets cost £6 for an adult and £3 concession and are available from the school shop. This is going to be a fantastic performance and I wish our students and staff the best of luck in the lead up to the shows.

Finally, I would like to remind the parents of our Year 11 students that we have Meningitis vaccinations this week. Students will be allocated a time based on their form group on Tuesday or Wednesday this week. Form tutors have informed students of the times and date.
