This year’s football tour to Madrid, Spain was a huge success. 48 pupils from Years 8 and 9 were given the opportunity to experience the Spanish culture of football and to showcase their footballing skills.
Once we arrived in sunny Spain it was straight to the Valdebebas training ground, home to Real Madrid FC.
Here, the boys experienced a typical Real Madrid training session delivered by their very own coaches in preparation for their 2 games against Spanish opposition.
On Saturday brought an element of surprise as the boys were told they were going to watch the Champions League Final at the Bernabeu Stadium along with 80,000 other Madrid fans – ‘the Madridistas’.
The atmosphere was amazing and with Ronaldo scoring the winning penalty after extra time, what more could we have asked for?
On the final day, we checked out of the Hotel Asset Torrejon and enjoyed a tour of the Bernabeu stadium.
Unfortunately, Ronaldo wasn’t around, but pupils were still able to imagine the atmosphere of the 85,000 seater stadium on match day.
All of the boys conducted themselves superbly throughout the trip – they were thoroughly professional and well-behaved manner and, as a result, we look forward to planning the next football tour.
