Safer Internet Day – Tuesday 8th February 2022

On Tuesday 8th February we will be joining schools and youth organisations across the UK in celebrating Safer Internet Day 2022. Safer Internet Day is a global campaign to promote the safe and responsible use of technology, which calls on young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers and more, to join together in helping to create a better internet.

Using the internet safely and positively is a key message that we promote in Lymm High School and celebrating Safer Internet Day is a great opportunity for us to re-emphasise the online safety messages we deliver throughout the year. This week, students will be looking at this theme as part of their Life Programme during form time.

We would be delighted if you could join us in celebrating the day by continuing the conversation at home. To help you with this, you may be interested in downloading the free Safer Internet Day  Resources for Parents and Carers, which is available at: saferinternet.org.uk/sid-parents.

There are top tips, quizzes and films which you can use at home with your child.
Some other resources which you may find helpful in supporting your child online are:

Online safety is an important issue which Lymm High School is committed to teaching our students about.

If you have any concerns or questions about keeping your child safe online, please do get in touch with your child’s Pastoral Manager, Head of Year, or our designated safeguarding lead Mrs Ball.

Covid vaccinations for 12–15-year-olds

The school-aged immunisation team will be coming back to school the week commencing 10th January to offer eligible children their second dose of the Covid vaccine (children that have had their first dose at least 12 weeks previously). The team will also offer a first Covid vaccination to any child who has not yet been vaccinated.

Further details and consent information will be sent to you on the 4th January.

If you want your child to receive their vaccination (either first or second dose) out of school, you can book an appointment through the national booking service on the NHS website or by calling 119. Please note, all children that received their first dose of Covid vaccinations in school early October 2021 are eligible for their second dose from the 4th January 2022.
