The new (September 2016) BTEC First Health and Social Care specification offers a unique opportunity for candidates to develop their knowledge and extend their skills within a vocational context. It is a suitable qualification for those who want a broad background in this area and for those who wish to progress to further education. Assessment: Pupils will sit an external exam on Unit 1 Human Life span development, in January Year 10 with an opportunity to re-sit in June Year 10. All other assessment will be performed internally for each assignment completed for the relevant units.
Homework:

Homework consists of a variety of differentiated tasks which will aid pupil learning and demonstrate pupil understanding on a regular basis.

Homework is set on a weekly basis. 

Useful Information:

Afterschool support sessions are on a Tuesday in E105.

 5 ways I can help my son/daughter
1 Talk to your child about what they have been studying in school. Ask them to explain key concepts to you.
2 Ask them to talk to your friends or relatives who work in Health or Social Care.
3 Help them to organise a summer work placement in a Health or Social Care environment.
4 Encourage them to read around the subject.
5 Talk to them about their progress and attainment using the PLCs for the subjects as a reference.
