Overview

Religious Studies is a forward thinking and creative department with four specialist staff, teaching Religious Studies and Philosophy and Ethics from Key Stage Three through to Key Stage Five. The students at Lymm via their Religious Studies lesson will be able to develop a plethora of skills ranging from communication and reflective skills through to evaluation and analysis. Students are able to develop their understanding and thinking skills through various differing schemes of learning throughout the Key Stages. We aim to develop an open-mindedness or spirit of enquiry; a respect for and a sense of reverence of all peoples and the earth they inhabit.

RS encourages students to develop their sense of identity and belonging. It enables them to flourish individually within their communities and as citizens in a diverse society and global community. RS has an important role in preparing students for adult life, employment and lifelong learning. It enables students to develop respect for and sensitivity to others, in particular those whose faiths and beliefs are different from their own. It promotes discernment and enables students to combat prejudice.
