KS4 PE & Sport

In Key Stage 4, all students will continue to participate in Core Physical Education lessons.

The Physical Education curriculum at Lymm High School aims to inspire all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It aims to provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities are provided for students to compete in sport, build character and to develop values such as fairness and respect.

In addition to Core PE lessons, students will have the opportunity to study GCSE PE.

Qualification: GCSE Physical Education (current Year 11 Cohort – exam 2017)

Examining body: Edexcel

Course outline: In this course, students will develop their knowledge and understanding of Physical Education and physical activity, in relation to balanced healthy lifestyles. This includes how and why people take part in physical activity, exercise and fitness, personal health and well-being.

Students will also develop their knowledge and understanding of how a healthy, active lifestyle contributes to the growth and development of the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

Homework: Home learning will be based around work completed in the theory lesson. It will be set once a week. It will extend the learning of the students by consolidating what they have learnt in class or preparing for the next lesson.
