KS4 PE & Sport

In Key Stage 4, all students will continue to participate in two hours of Core Physical Education lessons.

The focus of the PE curriculum changes slightly in KS4, whilst learning and developing new skills is still extremely important, our main priority is that students enjoy PE lessons, are active and develop their levels of confidence. We aim to provide students with more choice and autonomy where possible. The aim is that when students leave school they will continue their participation in physical activity.

Lessons aim to provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way, which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities are provided for students to compete in sport and to further develop the 5 key values introduced in KS3.

Qualification: GCSE Physical Education

Examining body: Edexcel

Course outline:  The course develops knowledge and understanding through practical application. The qualification was designed with a ‘supporting through practice’ approach, designed to enable all students to further their understanding of the subject though application. Students will be encouraged to engage in physical activity and sport by contextualising the theory and applying their knowledge to their practical performance.
