It is a suitable qualification for those who to specialise in Child care and for those who wish to progress to further education. It will offer valuable preparation for those entering the world of work.

Assessment: Pupils will submit 2 pieces of controlled assessments; Task 2; the child study in year 10 and Task 3; Child focussed task in year 11. Pupils will sit an external exam in June Year 11.

Homework consists of a variety of differentiated tasks which will aid pupil learning and demonstrate pupil understanding on a regular basis.

Homework is set on a weekly basis. 

Useful Information:

Afterschool support sessions are on a Tuesday in E105.

1 Talk to your child about what they have been studying in school. Ask them to explain key concepts to you.
2 Ask them to talk to your friends or relatives who work in Child Care.
3 Take them to Eureka, the children’s museum in Halifax.
4 Encourage them to read around the subject.
5 Talk to them about their progress and attainment.
