Dear parent/ carer,
As you are aware, Year 7 have been studying Great Expectations in English over the first half term and they are going to continue to study this text over the next half term too – this time, with a focus on writing skills.
At the beginning of the half term, we are going to make some changes to the Year 7 classes so that they are more streamlined. The adjustments will be made within the current bands which the classes are taught in, streamlining between 2 or 3 classes. This will ensure that teachers can target their teaching to meet the needs of the group – therefore it will be beneficial for all students in Year 7. Although they will be streamlined in accordance to academic ability, they will not be set in the traditional sense until Year 8 as is currently the case.
All classes will be studying the same text and the same lessons and similarly, the written tasks and the assessments will be identical.
Thank you for your continued support.
Miss F Drummond
