DofE 2023-24 cohorts

If you’ve signed your child up for Duke of Edinburgh in any of the following year groups: Year 9 (Bronze), Year 10 (Silver) and Year 12 (Gold), we have started to purchase their registration packs and usernames will be issued shortly afterwards via Form tutors. They will be given a username by their Form tutor and they need this to register on the electronic DofE system called eDofE, which is web- and app-based. All the instructions and a help sheet are available by clicking here. Any problems, please ask them to speak to their Form tutor in the first instance; after that they can go and see Mrs Riley, our DofE administrator. Once they have set up their account on eDofE and chosen their activities, we will approve them and then they can start actually doing the things they’ve chosen. Please click here for the list of things they can choose in each section.

Duke of Edinburgh Information Evening

There will be a Duke of Edinburgh’s award information evening via Teams on Monday 25th September from 5.30–6.30pm. This is for parents of students in Year 9 (Bronze award), Year 10 (Silver award) and Year 12 (Gold award) interested in signing up as new participants in the next month. There will be a sign-up window for 1 month after the information evening. After that, students will only be able to sign up for DofE with school with the following year’s cohort (assuming they are in relevant year groups). The link to the Teams meeting will be sent out nearer the time.

Please note this evening is only for new sign-ups to DofE in Year 9, 10 and 12. Any queries re: last year’s awards should be directed to Mrs Riley on reception who is our DofE award admin (ariley@lymmhigh.org.uk).

Bronze DofE (7-8th July 2023)

Please find below a letter and the pick-up and drop-off locations for Bronze DofE (7-8th July 2023). Please note that like the practice expedition, there are two different drop-off locations so please make sure they come to the right one! The students have been emailed with the specific location they are at and the drop-off time (if they were at Delamere Forest last time they are Alderford Lake, and if they were at Alderford lake last time they are now at Delamere).

If they requested to borrow a roll map or rucksack last time, this will be available again for them. If they didn’t and would like to borrow one of these items, they need to email ndixon@lymmhigh.org.uk by Wednesday 5th July.

Bronze DofE information

Dear Bronze DofE parent,

Please find attached information about the upcoming practice expedition on 12th – 13th May. Due to the size of the Bronze cohort, there will be two different start points: Alderford Lake, near Whitchurch and Whitefield car park near Delamere Forest. Your child has been sent via their school e-mail a link to a form we need them to complete please – this form asks them which students they would like to share a tent with (3’s) and walk with (max 10’s) as well as the names of any students they are likely to be car sharing with so we can ensure they are at the same start point. Please can we ask you to ensure your child has completed this as soon as possible this week so that we can confirm your child’s start point. Also attached is a parent information PowerPoint with lots of useful links – there is a parent information evening this Thursday at 5:00 PM on Microsoft Teams but we thought it would be useful to send the slides out ahead of that. If your child needs to borrow a rucksack or sleeping mat, they need to indicate it on the form they’ve been sent and by Friday 28th April.

Many thanks
