Number 42 Bus

Warrington’s Own Buses have asked us to advise you of the forthcoming closure of Massey Brook Lane, Lymm from next Monday 6th December until the end of term due to roadworks and will affect your service 42 school bus that normally operates from the Wrights Green/Appleton Thorn area then Knutsford Road (A50) and along Cliff Lane, Weaste Lane and Massey Brook Lane. The bus will be unable to operate along the latter three roads and will instead remain on Knutsford Road through to its junction with Stockport Road (A56), it will then divert along Stockport Road and Camsley Lane (A56) towards the School.

It is likely that most pupils affected by this road closure will travel from the Stoneleigh Gardens, Cuerdon Drive and Marie Drive end of Weaste Lane or from Massey Brook Lane, Massey Avenue or Beech Grove which are on the Lymm side of where the motorway viaduct crosses Massey Brook Lane, as these areas are where most housing is located.

Pupils from Stoneleigh Gardens, Cuerdon Drive, Marie Drive and the west end of Weaste Lane will need to board the bus on Knutsford Road near to the junction with Cliff Lane and Bellhouse Lane, the bus will stop alongside the white cottages on Knutsford Road, opposite a marked bus stop visible on the other side of the road.

Pupils from Massey Brook Lane, Massey Avenue and Beech Grove will need to board the bus from the bus stop on Camsley Lane/Booth’s Hill Road opposite the junction with Massey Brook Lane, this bus stop is already used by the other Lymm High School buses. I have been informed by Highways that pedestrian access will be maintained through the roadworks area on Massey Brook Lane.

These arrangements will also apply for alighting in the afternoon, service 42 operates a loop around Grappenhall and Appleton Thorn in the afternoon, normally this is after operating along Massey Brook Lane and Weaste Lane but because of the diversion the loop will be done before reaching the Knutsford Road/Cliff Lane drop off point.

Please click here for a copy of the roadworks map so you can see where the road closure will be (please note the side roads that are shown branching off Weaste Lane are not suitable for buses and so cannot be used to minimise the required diversion).
